  • Women in the circuit

Rock and metal are male dominant, but women were just as much a part of it in more ways than one. I learned that “If she’s on stage, she’s not single”. These are stories of the women who were both on and away from the spotlight. I lost a bet with a bandmate thanks to Margot from The Siren Project, and I learned my lesson well. • Opening for nationals

In the movie “Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure”, their dream is for their band Wyld Stallions to open for Iron Maiden if you recall. If you never saw this movie, I will question why you’re even here in the first place.

Being an opening act for a national can mean different things. But in a promoter’s narrative, it’s “45 minutes of entertainment to provide the audience until the headliner appears”. To this day, both Dale Strom and I are baffled on how The Dinpedals opened for Megadeth. And as someone who opened for Stephen Pearcy, I can say with conviction- it’s a challenge putting your gear in front of his band’s on a small as is stage at the Grim Reaper on NYE 05/06. Jim Moore as well as the Marlatt brothers can vouch for this BTW. we shared that discomfort together.

  • April 24, 1999 Ogden theater

Coming in November 2025. Anyone who played at The Odgen, Bluebird or Gothic should have a gratitute towards those who made this show happen because local bands were not taken seriously. This night changed that. If you don’t think you should thank Corruption, Rogue, Drudgery or Tread as well as Nobody In Particular Presents, please leave this archive and never return. We are in debt to this event!

  • Riff Magazine's Rockin Freak Fest at Fat City Halloween 2003 Disaster

I was always on the lookout for more places for Depth Charge to play, and it wasn't just me. Donger one particular practice brought up a joint called Fat City in Littleton. I hadn't ever been there but for me, it was worth at least a look so one particular monday, I drove by to see what's what.

I searched for someone to point out where the bands play, they did. To say I was completely unimpressed was the understatement of 2003. And I hadn't gotten to the lineup yet, one of the booked dates was "Rasputin" a band I did not rebook at Pinke’s. I looked at the area where the bands setup, this looked like a soundman's nightmare, I remember the challenges the Blitz Room had to deal with in terms of it's dynamics- Fat City was 10 times worse. I gave this a hard "NO" and moved on.

Turns out that Riff Magazine disagreed with me, and around September 2003, I was seeing ads of this show that headlined The Union Underground, hosted by Uncle Nasty and Maris The Great, along with 3 other stages featuring Ion, Drug Under and Esovae. What could go wrong? Aside from everything? I deliberately missed this event feeling that a potential trainwreck was in the works, and unfortunately- I was proven right and even the cops gave someone silver bracelets enroute to Jeffco Jail. Survivors of the event share their stories.

  • jagermeister sponsorship

We want to ask bands like Switchpin, Esovae and Drug Under what it was like having this opportunity, and the pros and cons. Did anyone decline this overrrated liquor? Since this is a private group I can say that. The last time I had a Jager bomb I woke up with a 4 and the night before I thought she was a 9 in 2004. I never touched the stuff since. • Rehearsal Spaces/The DAV

Some bands had a basement or a garage at their home to prep for shows. But many including myself had to find a location and I was fortunate enough to find Soundstructure studios owned by a first class guy named John Burr who showed how it was done at 31st and Walnut. That said, Rogue, Throat Culture, Kronow and others made their camp at the DAV on East Colfax, with more than music being made. Debauchery tales are to be expected. Coming in November 2025

  • Milwaukee Metalfest

For those who performed that event ran by Jack Koshick, who had mixed reviews.

  • Tribute to colemesis

A quartet who came from Costa Rica, got a raw deal but chose to make the best of it, and a true example of why taking risks is necessary. Few people could had done what they tried.

  • tribute to love .45

It took one Bluebird show, a flawless cover of “Help” by The Beatles, and a beautiful song “I Don’t Want To Be Your Superhero” to make me wonder how Simon Cowell didn’t show up with a blank check for these guys.

The band that did it wrong but did it anyway. Coming in 2026.

  • Deep Freeze Fest

A vision of Keith Spargo’s that became a reality through me and David Talarico, and later endorsed by Maris The Great.. Flotsam & Jetsam and Cephalic Carnage headlined the best of them. Catch Jag Panzer performing at DFF 4 HERE. Coming in January 2026

  • dream teams

If you could form a band from the Denver circuit between 1994-2006, who would be in it? I would have a co-ed lineup with the name Kodiaxe. We’d completely rip-off Lacuna Coil but it would be fun. Here’s my dream team:

    Male Vocals- James Brennan(Kronow)

    Guitar- Dan Lynn(Silencer)

    Keys/Synth/Backing vocals- Talia Hoit(Anadies)

    Drums- Nick Studen(Corruption)

    Bass- Me

    Female Vocals- Dawn Cheairs(Offering 74)

Dawn also plays bass(quite well, may I add), but I’d want her pipes knocking people on their ass, something she already does but since this is my dream world, she’s singing.

  • Band name origins

What’s in a name? We ask bands how they came up with their titles, and whether they still felt good about it, or in some cases like Throat Culture’s- that there was another act in San Francisco that shared the same moniker. But there might not be a more metal name than Peace Love and Destruction.

  • From Colorado but NOT based in Denver

For all the bands like Anadies, Last Supper, Section 16, Of Winds And Faint Echoes, Malakai, Immortal Dominion and Aggressive Persuasion, to name a few who were either north of I-25 in Fort Collins or south towards Colorado Springs/Pueblo as well as live venues like Pure Energy, Black Sheep, and Joe’s Radiator? This page is for those who played at Denver but went to bed somewhere else and the bands like Drudgery who developed their following around the state and didn’t solely focus on Denver. In short, these are stories and takes from others outside of the mile high altitude.

  • eTC. AKA EVERYTHING & OR ANYONE ELSE

For those who feel some event, place, band or person has been overlooked in this archive, this page is for them to bring that darkness to light. There is three things OFF-LIMITS:

    1. The former vocalist from Hallucinasia and Satori. #iykyk and if you don’t know that, don’t expect your post to get published and I will openly wonder why you even got allowed to be here.

    2. Any Battle Of The Bands was stupid, including one I did at Pinke’s.

    3. The People’s Fair. That was a joke and Taste Of Colorado has always been, always will be a ripoff.

  • Behold! The future? in 2100?

Stealing a line from my favorite Corruption song, I will be asking all of us this question since we’ll all be gone when the 22nd century comes around(Part of this archive mission is for people to take in our content in the year 2100).

What do you think the future of live music will consist of given that we lived before the emergence of AI, and are learning how it can help us BUT easily can hurt us just as equally?
