ty mcintosh-campbell/depth charge
There was a band named Depth Charge that played that big show at the Ogden in 1999, I saw them one last time then I heard they split. That’s nothing new. In 03’, I reunited with some guys I jammed with and they took the same name. I brought it up with them but I got outvoted because I wanted to rename us Suncager, in which I felt was far better.
I said screw it, and to my surprise not too many people in the circuit asked me on it’s history, and I sure as hell didn’t bring it up. But I almost hate the Marlatt brothers for using Peace Love and Destruction first. You knew what was coming with a title like that! And I can vouch firsthand, a lot of women enjoyed them.

Jim moore/moore
So, nobody could decide on a freaking name. since like 1994 because we came out in '95, but we started at the end of 94 and nobody could nobody agree on a name like none of it had all these cool metal names and then the guitar player had frog names that he liked and he could decide on it. Finally, Dan the bass player goes, "Let's just call it more, you know, like Dio." And my comment at the time was two reasons. One, it's going to be a marketing nightmare. And number two, everybody will think I thought of that. And I was right on both accounts cuz it's a pain in the ass marketing, but we're kind of stuck with it, right?

eric marlatt/peace love and destruction
Standing stop a volcanic hill, wind whipping through my hair, lightning crackling in the distance---then the acid kicked in. I raised my arms to the sky and screamed "Destruction!" In my pre-death growl voice. My lover, perched on a ledge just below, chanted "Peace and Love" over and over.
I began spinning in circles, still screaming "Destruction!"---until I saw a circle of beautiful women surrounding me, chanting "Peace and Love" in unison. The chant evolved:
"Peace and Love...Destruction..."
"Peace Love, and Destruction..."
It grew louder, larger, and more intense.
At the peak of it all, I stumbled and fell into the rocks below. Blood streamed from my elbows and knees as I lay there, howling with laughter, screaming "Peace, Love, and Destruction!" In psychedelic fueled ecstacy. I passed out holding my tripping lover.
When we woke, it was clear: my future band had a name.
Over the years, various people worked on the logo ---until Shane designed the one we still use today.
The rest is underground metal history.
