HOW WE SHARE OUR STORIES

We want to use the ACC method in sharing our stories, we all have diffrent views on similar things and when our readers see what’s makes us diffrent is what will make this archive great. We are NOT THE SAME, we don’t see things the same. So, what is the ACC method?

A- AFFECTION

C- CANDOR

C- CRITICISM(WHEN APPROPRIATE)

This will be important at our Zoom parties. Click HERE on what to expect

HERE’S THE LOWDOWN REGARDING CRITICISM:

This archive will not tolerate trolling, and since I’m the Editor in Chief, I have final say on what gets published. That said, I feel that constructive criticism makes for better storytelling, and since I’m a writer I will set the standards regarding how views will be shared.

So, I’m going to share an example of what is FAIR:

I went to Oil Can Harry’s to get Paragon booked, and while the co-owner Cindy was a successful owner when it came to operating the bar, as a booking agent her conduct was the most unprofessional when it came to bands who were trying to get their foot in the door. She left me waiting for hours not only once, but twice. I wasn’t happy about that and I told her so.

This is an example of what is FOUL:

Cindy, the co-owner of Oil Can Harry’s was a b***h.

I’ll explain why there’s a difference:

I didn’t know Cindy well, even though much of 96 until they closed in May of 98 I was a semi-regular. The staff was cool as hell, they knew my drink of choice(Alabama Slammer on the rocks) and I had many a fun night there and I met Scotty Brown who ended up helping me with PA and lighting when I started booking Pinke’s in 2001. Cindy deserves criticism with her conduct as a booking agent for the club, but I have no right to this day to character assassinate her, because for all I know, she could had been lovely.

WE WILL ADHERE TO THIS BECAUSE WHAT MAKES US DIFFRENT MAKES US GREAT.

but ty, what if i disagree with you on something your wrote?

That’s a great question, and I’m going to address that. What makes us diffrent is what will make this archive great. And no one here is going to agree with me 100 percent.

Here’s an example of what is FAIR:

“Ty looked like he was on drugs.”

I look back and I can totally understand why when some people met me this could be in the realm of possible. But ask those who are closer to me, I am a high energy guy that has coped with ADHD my whole life, and as people have known me over time, they learn that I’m not toxic and non-malicious.

This is an example of what is FOUL:

Ty is a tweaker..

I’ve never tried meth, coke or the like. Shouldn’t we all be glad that I didn’t?

And since you’re here, let’s go over a few other things-

I’m sure you at the very least caught parts of Black Sabbath’s “Back To The Beginning” show last July 5th. Not only was that the greatest heavy metal event of all time, it also proved that people aren’t going to agree 100 percent of the time on things. For example, I wasn’t thrilled with Billy Corgan and David Draiman being a part of it(I’m not alone here), but seeing Nuno Bettencourt and Vernon Reid to me more than made up for it. And since it wasn’t my event to work on, I put up with Corgan to get Nuno. Same principle applies here. There is going to be someone in this archive that you won’t be big on. But it’s my decision on who’s here and who isn’t- and since this is a remote project, I’m not asking you to take a warm shower in the wee hours of the morning with them.

Regarding people in this archive who were in bands that you might have not cared for, I’ll use me and my band Depth Charge as an example:

“I didn’t care for Depth Charge, but I liked Ty personally”- FAIR in fact, if you want to tell people what a great guy I am, I won’t mind that one bit.

“Depth Charge wasn’t my thing”- FAIR

“Depth Charge sucked”- FOUL!

I think you get the point. But in the event of disagreeing/criticizing anyone and/or me, diplomacy is the key and as long as you describe an action/deed/words/the like, that to me is fair.

If anyone’s in the best position to criticize Depth Charge, let Dan Lynn from Silencer do it. He’s in the best position to know as he produced/engineered our CD, and he told me that we were NOT Pantera mixed with Dream Theater, we were more like Iron Maiden mixed with Godsmack. That was not only fair, it came from a guy who directly dealt with us. And regarding my character, let Silencer’s Keith Spargo go after it. He can say with conviction that “Ty and the word normal are NOT BEDFELLOWS!

This archive is a limited time only deal, and while I’ve made an earnest effort to make this easy, at the end of the day it’s up to you, and you alone to decide what kind of experience you’re going to have with me and this archive.
